CAM Cambridge Alumni Magazine

CAM coverCAM is the well-established and elegantly produced, full colour, perfect bound magazine distributed by the University of Cambridge to its 216,000+ alumni around the world.

First published in 1990, CAM was relaunched in June 2009 and is now regarded as a vital link between the University and its alumni.

A recent survey found that 86% of alumni regard CAM as their most important source of news and information about the University. Alumni consistently write to the University to praise the content, photography and design of the magazine.

In 2010 CAM won two major international prizes: a Circle of Excellence Gold Award for College and University General Interest Magazines, and the 2010 Robert Sibley Magazine of the Year Award, becoming the first non-US publication to win in the award’s 67-year history.

CAM continues to be recognised internationally as a leading alumni publication and in 2016 won a Circle of Excellence Silver award for College and University General Interest Magazines. These prizes are administered by international body CASE, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

Cambridge graduates receive the publication in their homes three times a year: in March, June and November. This is a pattern that reflects the University’s three-term academic year of Lent, Easter and Michaelmas.

CAM is sent to 154,200 recipients living in the UK, the vast majority in London and the South East. 44,000 copies are mailed to 159 overseas countries and 18,100 copies mailed to the United States.

For historical reasons, men have made up the majority of the CAM readership. However, this balance is changing fast as the University of Cambridge now has equal numbers of male and female students.

Offering compelling and thought-provoking editorial comment, CAM carries articles from senior journalists and eminent academics and provides graduates with an ongoing relationship with the University.
